Man drowns in Lake Acworth Sunday

ACWORTH, Ga. -

Officials are investigating a drowning on Lake Acworth on Sunday afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Acworth Police Department tells FOX 5 that rescue crews responded to South Shore Park on Ragsdale Road around 1:40 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of a possible drowning.

Witnesses told police a 55-year-old man was using a paddle board when they saw him go under.

Fire officials were able to locate the man's body after an hour-long search.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

The name of the man has not yet been released.
