An area of low pressure is lingering over the northeast keeping mostly cloudy skies around town with showers and storms popping up -- some of these storms are producing very heavy rainfall with rainfall rates of 1-2" per hour. Generally speaking, that area of low pressure will continue to hang around the region and therefore keep the threat of showers/storms with us until Monday.
On Monday we catch a quick break with high pressure trying to build in, though we can't rule out an isolated storm. Unfortunately, the drier weather doesn't last long. From Tuesday through the end of the week we'll have a threat for showers and storms on any given day.

The entire tri-state area is under a severe thunderstorm watch Saturday evening and it's in effect until 10:00 p.m. tonight.
Many parts of our area saw a lot of rain this afternoon. The flash flood warning will expire at 6:30 p.m. for Middlesex and New London counties in Connecticut.
The heavier showers and thunderstorms have moved to the east of the warned area. Showers will continue but no additional flash flooding is anticipated.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 10:00 p.m. for Southern Connecticut, Northeast New Jersey and Southeast New York.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, NJ has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Northwestern Atlantic County in Southern New Jersey, Central Burlington County in Southern New Jersey, Camden County in Southern New Jersey, Northern Cumberland County in Southern New Jersey – which includes the City of Vineland, Southeastern Gloucester County in Southern New Jersey and Southeastern Salem County in Southern New Jersey until 7:15 p.m.
The National Weather Service says their radar indicates a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing quarter size hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph.
The storms were located along a line extending from Berlin to Sicklerville to Newfield and Rosenhayn or along a line extending from 13 miles Southeast of Camden to 16 miles Southeast of Camden to 8 miles North of Vineland to 8 miles West of Vineland and moving East at 15 mph.

This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path prepare immediately for damaging winds, large hail and deadly cloud to ground lightening.
People outside should move to shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.
