WASHINGTON -

For the first time since being attacked, Michael Hall, a 29-year-old D.C. yoga instructor who was brutally beaten late Saturday night, spoke exclusively with FOX 5's Will Thomas about the incident, his injuries and the outpouring of support from the yoga community.

Hall is recovering from surgery after multiple face fractures. Hall and his boyfriend, Michael Roike, were walking home at around midnight in the area near the 1900 block of 3rd Street in Northeast D.C. when a group of young people jumped them.

Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime, but the victims say they have no reason to believe their sexuality motivated the attack because they do not recall any homophobic slurs used by the men during the assault.

Police are looking for any information in the case and encourage witnesses to call 202-727-9099.

Fundraising efforts for the victims are gaining momentum. A PayPal account and a dedicated Facebook page have been set up with more information about how you can help.
