House Speaker Michael Busch has met with lawmakers to tell them to be prepared for a special session to expand gambling next month.
The speaker met for more than an hour with lawmakers Wednesday afternoon.
Busch met on Tuesday with David Cordish, the owner of Maryland's largest casino, who does not want a casino to be allowed in Prince George's County, because he believes it will seriously hurt his business.
Gov. Martin O'Malley wants to hold a special session this summer to tackle the issues of allowing table games and a new casino site. O'Malley wants a consensus to be reached before calling the session.
The sixth casino has been a tough sell in the House, where delegates have expressed concern about lowering the state's 67 percent tax rate.
