There will be added security at some theaters in North Texas and more police presence.
Officers were patrolling at the Cinemark Theater on Legacy in Plano Friday night. Plano police said they believe their presence at the theaters will not only provide security to patrons, but will offer assurance to people and make them feel more secure.
Also, Dallas and Mesquite police are also discussing security at local theaters this weekend.
"The Dallas Police Department has instructed patrol officers to provide extra visibility and to be extra vigilant at public locations where large numbers of people gather, such as movie theaters," DPD said in a statement.
"The Dallas Police Department does have plans and procedures in place to quickly and effectively respond to incidents of this nature. Police officers have been receiving training for several years on how to respond to an incident involving a person who is actively firing a weapon in public buildings."
However, several patrons at the theater in Plano said the shootings did not discouraged them from seeing a show.
"It's an isolated thing and it's not like it's gonna happen everywhere," said Jake Evans.
"You'd probably have to have a wand and metal detector everywhere you go, which is a shame," added Mike Evans.
