An aspiring sports journalist who had dreams of writing for the National Hockey League was reportedly one of the victims of the Colorado theater shooting.
Jessica Redfield, whose original name was Jessica Ghawi, recently moved to Colorado from her hometown of San Antonio.
Denver FOX 31 Good Day anchor Melody Mendez tweeted she found out about the death of her friend during the morning show.
"Found out while on air that one of my friends is a victim in #theatershooting. Jessica Redfield was 1 of kindest, funniest people I know."
"SO SAD… our former San Antonio intern, Jessica Redfield, was KILLED in the Colorado movie massacre this morning," tweeted KVET sports radio in Austin.
Redfield was active on Twitter and spoke all evening of trying to convince a friend to join her at the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises." Her last post reads, "MOVIE STARTS IN 20 MINUTES."
According to a blog in her name, Redfield was also present last month at the Eaton Center shooting in Toronto, and wrote a chilling portrait.
Bloggers and tweeters connected with the hockey and sports journalism worlds are mourning her loss.
A full list of victims names had not yet been released as of 8:30 a.m. Friday.
