Fox 29's Skyfox pilot was nearly blinded Wednesday evening when they were covering a story.
The chopper was at the scene of a stolen car ring bust when the pilot noticed the flickering green light a few blocks away.
In the attached video, you can clearly see the green laser. It is a Federal crime to point a laser at an airplane or a helicopter.
Fox 29's Claudia Gomez spoke to the pilot and photographer that were in the chopper at the time of the incident. Al Nugent told Claudia, "It's extremely dangerous. People's lives are at stake... specifically choppers because we're pretty close to the ground."
The pilot, Bret Berlinger, said "It's risking a catastrophe. I hope they charge the guy with everything they can."
For once, the suspect behind the laser got caught, after the quick-thinking photographer zeroed right in on him. The man at that address didn't have anything to say to Fox 29 Thursday.
But the photographer aboard the chopper had a message for him. "Gotcha!"

Thursday weather looks damp and stormy. It will be mild and muggy to start with spotty showers early followed by afternoon and evening storms. Highs in the upper 70s with winds out of the SW 5-10 mph. Some of the storms will produce locally heavy rain and gusty winds.
This system is from the same cold front that caused the midwest tornadoes. It will also usher in cooler air for the holiday weekend.
