WASHINGTON -
Metro has finally found the source of a computer glitch that impacted weekend rail service.
Officials say a failed module in an information management network device is to blame. It was replaced early this morning.
Rail service was shut down twice over the weekend because of the glitch.
The problem affected a system that allows controllers in Metro's Rail Operations Control Center to see where trains are on a map and to remotely control switches.
Metro says all safety systems that keep trains properly spaced remained fully operational during both occurrences.
