
WEST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) -- Police are seeking the public's help in locating the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian and then fled the scene.
Suffolk County police say 27-year-old Jason Nelson of Brightwaters was standing outside a house on Sandra Avenue in West Islip when he was hit by the northbound vehicle on July 2.
He suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Police believe Nelson and the occupants of the vehicle may have argued earlier.
