Beltsville man wanted for double shooting at Ellicott City spa

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. -

Police say a Silver Spring woman with a protective order against her ex-boyfriend is fighting for her life after he opened fire on her at an Ellicott City spa Saturday.

Investigators say the woman's friend was also critically wounded in that shooting spree.

Howard County Police are looking for 35 year old Tuan Pham of Beltsville in connection with the double shooting on Richards Valley Drive at the Shipley's Grant Shopping Center.

Investigators say Phuong Do, a friend of his ham's ex-girlfriend was actually shot first. He waiting in the parking lot for her to get off work at the Nails and Hair Care Spa. After he was shot, witnesses say Do ran into the spa with Pham trailing behind him, and that's when Lan Phan was shot.

Both are in critical condition at Baltimore's Shock Trauma .

The shopping center was crowded with customers when shots rang out.

"I was like, oh my god, he has a gun," says Ronald Hindman, who works next door. " I ran back into the store and told them to call police."

All Gabe Coffelt could think about after he heard the shots was helping the victims. He's a volunteer firefighter and Boy Scout.

"There was a woman lying on floor of the spa covered in blood.," Coffelt says. " I ran out and got some gloves and took care of her until police and EMS arrived."

Pham sped off in a 1998 tan or gold Honda Accord. His license plate number is 2AK0291.

"This is shocking," Shirley Dunhaney says. "I've lived here a long time, and you never hear of anything like this around here."

The Howard County Police Department is offering a $2,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest. Pham is facing two counts of first and second degree attempted murder, two counts of assault, reckless endangerment, and multiple gun charges.
