ANOKA, Minn. (KMSP) -
The Anoka County sheriff's office is trying to identify a Jane Doe who was arrested for trespassing and stealing an SUV in Fridley.
According to the charges, the owner of a home under construction on Rice Creek Way pulled into the driveway on the evening of July 9 and noticed there were sheets covering the windows and the exterior locks had been changed.
The owner called his son and brother to ask if they had been doing work on the house, but neither had been at the property. He unscrewed a back porch light bulb and drove away, but returned to find the back porch light turned on – meaning someone screwed the light bulb back in.
Several officers responded to the house and forced entry into the garage after knocks on the door were unanswered. Inside the garage, police found a white Ford Explorer that was reported stolen in Wisconsin.
A K-9 unit found Jane Doe hiding in a closet. She was arrested, but police still haven't been able to identify her.
To date, the woman has refused to identify herself or produce any identifying information to police, hospital staff or jail staff.
