Deputies in Douglas County are looking for the person who shot and killed a cow Friday night off Mason Creek Road. Investigators say this is not the first time this has happened and now they are offering a reward.
As a cattle farmer, Nolan Kell walks his land in Douglas County. He says he does not understand why someone would want to shoot and kill one of his cows. He discovered the 4-month-old calf shot dead in the eye on Saturday morning.
Kell placed an orange and white marker where his calf was found. It was in a fenced in pasture, just about a hundred yards from the road.
Lt. John Jewell with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office says this is not the first time a cow has been shot in the area. Two years ago, a neighboring farm had a similar incident occur. Howard Lewis, who lives nearby, says he lost two cows after someone shot them to death.
Kell is offering a $2,500 rewards for information leading to an arrest. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is also putting up a $1,000 in addition to Kell's reward.
