An investigation is underway into why 9-1-1 service was disrupted in parts of northern Virginia following June's derecho. Officials from Virginia, Maryland and the District gathered in Fairfax Tuesday.

More heat heading for the East isn't going to make things any better for people still without power after violent storms hit a week ago.
The heat is coming from the Midwest, where a number of temperature records were set and officials say as many as five deaths resulted from the hot weather.
The heat, last week's storm damage and high demand for power are stressing the areas electrical system's capabilities.
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene says four more people have died heat-related deaths in the state.
It brought the total number of heat-related deaths in recent days to eight. Three of the newly-reported heat-related deaths occurred in Baltimore City. Two of them were men over the age of 65.
