Computers stolen from new library in southeast DC

Posted: Updated:
WASHINGTON -

Authorities say computer equipment was stolen from a library branch in southeast Washington shortly after the facility opened.

D.C. Police say thieves removed six 19-inch computer monitors from the Francis A. Gregory Neighborhood Library on Alabama Avenue on June 26. Police released surveillance that shows five people wearing hoods or masks prowling around outside the library and then breaking in through a glass panel in the rear.

No arrests have been made.

The library, which opened on June 19, has been hailed as a welcome addition to an area of the city with a high unemployment rate and scarce resources.
