DEXTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

This past March, the Lesser family watched as the tornado roared by missing their farm.  Thursday, they were not so lucky.

"It just happened so fast, so fast," said Amy Lesser.

It took only an instant for the Lesser family farm to be turned into a debris field.

"The house was just swirling and one window blew in and the power went out at the same time," Lesser said.

"We thought it was a tornado just the way the wind was circling around, and it just started taking trees down," said Ann Ruhlig.

The fast moving storm whipped through parts of Southeastern Michigan Thursday afternoon.  Moments before, Lesser rushed her two kids to the storm cellar.

When it was safe to go outside, they found trees that have been a part of the landscape for 100 years knocked over, tractors damaged and sheds ripped apart.

In the moments following the storm, help arrived.

"You can't help but do the same thing for them," said Fred Johnson.

In March, he was on the receiving end of Mother Nature's fury.  His property was directly hit by the wicked tornado.  The Lesser family helped him.  Now he is paying them back.

"These guys are used to hard work, and needless to say they deserve the reciprocation," Johnson said.

"All the animals are accounted for and everyone's safe," said Lesser.

Authorities do have reports of other damage in the area.  There was a tree down on a home.  Fortunately, they do not have any reports of injuries.
