Prince William County Police investigating assault in Manassas

MANASSAS, Va. -

Prince William County Police are investigating an assault that occurred in Manassas Tuesday night.

Police say they responded to the 8100 block of Seymour Road at 8 p.m. for an assault and battery. A 21-year-old female reported she was struck from behind and knocked to the ground while walking home by an unknown man. The victim was able to fight off the suspect who fled the area on foot before police arrived.

The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police also say detectives received information about an indecent exposure incident that occurred in the same area with a suspect description similar to the one provided by the victim.

Police describe the suspect as a white male, between 20 and 30 years of age, 6'0", 180 lbs, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.
