A military drone, once mistaken for a UFO along DC highways back in June took flight Tuesday. The X-47Bdrone is the size of a fighter jet, and took off from the deck of an American aircraft carrier for the first time Tuesday in a test flight that could eventually open the way for the U.S. to launch unmanned aircraft from just about any place in the world.

Not one person had offered a single penny for an Army medal Bill Shephard put up for sale on eBay.

Then his story aired on TV.

"When I saw the amount that was posted on eBay, when I saw that it was $2,000, it was just, it was overwhelming," Shephard said.

Shephard spent a year in Iraq serving his country, away from his wife and three young kids.

When he returned, he lost his job to the bad economy.

Two-and-a-half years later, he still can't find full-time work.

"I've tried until the point where I started my own business and went door to door because, at a certain point, you can't sit around and wait for somebody to call you. You have to get active and make some money," said Shephard.

The former army specialist started a lawn-care business with his old push mower.

But Shephard needed better equipment to make more money, so two days ago he decided to auction off one of his army medals – but viewers wouldn't stand for it.

Dozens of emails and phone calls were made offering assistance.

Shephard has come under some pretty intense criticism from his sergeant, who says that selling the medal is a slap in the face to the military and his fellow soldiers.

Shephard insists that was never his intent and he's not trying to profit off his service to his country.
