WASHINGTON -
A new look and a new way to make additional advertising revenue. That's what Verizon Center management is trying to achieve as they ask the District government for permission to put up new electronic signs outside the sport and entertainment arena.
Verizon Center management, including owner Ted Leonsis, asked DC leaders during a committee hearing on Tuesday to consider allowing the new signs. Leonsis says the new signs will look better and even produce less light and sound.
Some have expressed concerns with the new signs because of the historic buildings near the Verizon Center.
Verizon Center management says the signs will allow them to increase advertising revenue and generate more than $2 million in tax revenue.
