A House committee Wednesday approved a resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for failing to hand over documents related to the "Fast and Furious" scandal.
The entire House must vote before Holder can be formally held in contempt.
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee approved the measure in a 23-17 party-line vote.
The Obama administration claims the documents related to the botched anti-gunrunning operation are protected by executive privilege.
