Todd Palin to earn his stripes on NBC reality show

The Palins really are bucking to be the new Kardashians.

NBC has revealed that Todd Palin -- Sarah's husband -- will be one of the celebrity contestants on the upcoming "Stars Earn Stripes" competition series.

The announcement came Tuesday, the same day that Palin's daughter's Lifetime series, "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp," premiered.

"Stars Earn Stripes" pairs celebrities with military or law enforcement personnel and puts them through missions inspired by real-life military exercises. The pros will coach and compete alongside the celebs, with one team getting eliminated each week.

The celebrities will be playing for military-related charities.

Retired US Army Gen. Wesley Clark -- one-time Supreme Allied Commander Europe for NATO -- and "Dancing with the Stars'" Samantha Harris will host.

Some of Palin's fellow competitors are boxing champ Laila Ali, actor Dean Cain, former NFL star Terry Crews, singer Nick Lachey, and Olympic skier Picabo Street.
