D.C. Police are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever shot and killed a beloved D.C. deli owner Thursday morning.

It comes as dozens gathered for a vigil outside Grace Deli on the corner of 7th Street and H Street in Northeast D.C. Friday afternoon. It was in honor of 65-year-old June Lim.

Lim was opening her business on Thursday morning when she was shot dead. Police believe robbery was the motive,

Many customers say their grief can only be matched by their anger at the killer.

"This woman didn't deserve that at all," Ayanna Winslow says. "And her son and her family shouldn't have to go through what they're going through behind someone needing some money that could have got a job."

Customers hung flowers, teddy bears and heartfelt notes with messages like, "June, thank you for sharing your smiling face with us each day. We will miss you. RIP."

One of the most touching notes was from Lim's son, Peter. His began with the message, "I love you Mom."

"She cared about everybody and she was such a wonderful person," says Peter, choking back tears.

"She was very giving and she would give you anything. 100 percent. The shirt off her back," says Tiffany Jordan, a long-time customer of the deli.

June Lim was weeks away from celebrating her 66th birthday. She was also about to become a first-time grandmother and was planning to retire to the Eastern Shore next year with her husband of 40 years.

Peter Lim says Grace Deli was struggling to survive, and with his mother's death, he says it's likely the business will close for good.

Peter spent much of the afternoon handing out free drinks and free food to customers. He says it is what his mother would have wanted.

Community members ended the vigil by lighting candles and saying prayers for June and her family, They say they want to show the Lims the love June showed her customers every day.

Police are hoping video cameras in and outside of the store captured something that may help track down a suspect.
