DETROIT (WJBK) -

A heartbreaking development for the family of a missing woman.  It was her body found in Detroit's Rouge Park.  Family members did have the difficult task of identifying April Black's body Thursday.

The mother of six had been missing for a week.   A passer-by discovered her body in the Rouge River Wednesday a few miles from where Black lived in Detroit.

We're told there was no apparent signs of trauma on her body.  The Wayne County Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, but it did not reveal a cause of death.  Toxicology tests will now be conducted.  Results should take about six to eight weeks.

Black was last seen on June 6 at a 7-Eleven at Joy and Telegraph around 5:30 p.m.  Police did take the surveillance video from there, but the 7-Eleven owner told us he did not see anything suspicious that evening.

All of this is a mystery to friends and family, especially Black's daughter.  She called her mother a loving mother who cared about everyone.  They are certainly curious about what happened and who may be responsible.

We did talk to police to find out where the investigation stands, but it is kind of complicated because at first it was a missing persons case and now it's become a homicide. What they have to do is assign it, but it still has not been assigned as of last time we checked because they still don't have a cause of death.  So this case, as it switches gears, may present some challenges.
