A woman was found engulfed in flames Monday outside a southern Florida 7-Eleven store, police said.
The unidentified victim survived and was recovering from severe burns at a hospital, the Miami Herald reported. A suspect, identified as 59-year-old Roosevelt Monesir, was arrested and jailed.
Police arrived at the convenience store in Boynton Beach, about 30 miles north of Fort Lauderdale, at around 3:00am Monday and found the 40-year-old woman, who had been doused with gasoline and set ablaze.
Two officers put out the fire and gave the victim first aid, according to the Herald.
Witnesses said the suspect fled the scene, prompting a search involving a police helicopter and K-9 units that lasted several hours.
Monesir was eventually found, arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County jail.
