Authorities arrested two men following the seizure of more than 1,200 items associated with witchcraft and sorcery at Dubai International Airport, Gulf News reported Monday.
The two Asian men were arrested at the airport Sunday. Authorities seized literature on black magic and items including animal bones, ampoules full of blood and sorcery knives.
Customs officials discovered the items during a baggage scan.
"Two Asian passengers were suspected when their bags passed through the internal inspection machines. Their bags were scanned and searched manually," Ali al Maghawi from Dubai Customs said.
The seizure of witchcraft and sorcery items is not uncommon in the United Arab Emirates.
There were more than 16 reported seizures in the first quarter of this year, according to Gulf News.
