
A police report shows the driver of a stolen vehicle thatdrove into a downtown Washingtonoffice building was trying to use a lighter following the crash.
The document shows officers who arrived on the scene tookthe lighter away from the driver, 32-year-old Charles Ball of New Market, Md. The report says agasoline container was also found in the vehicle, and the front seat was wetwith what smelled like gasoline.
Marylandcourt records also shows that the car's owner had a restraining order filedagainst Ball the same day.
Ball has been charged with arson and other counts for theFriday night crash. Authorities say they believe the driver intentionallycrashed into the building less than a mile from the White House in the city'sbusiness district.
