D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray
WASHINGTON -
D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray says he doesn't know much about the latest criminal charge against former Council Chairman Kwame Brown.
Gray tells FOX 5 he did reach out to Brown on a personal level and sent him a text to show support. Asked if he is nervous that he himself could be a target of federal investigators looking into municipal corruption, Gray would only say he assumes the prosecutors are going about their job as they normally would during any investigation.
The mayor says citizens should judge him by his deeds, and he says the city is doing well. He boasts of a $240 million surplus after his first year in office, says homicides are way down, that unemployment has dropped from 11.2 percent to 9.5 percent, and that in just about any index you want to look at, the city is operating well.
