Missing owner of Arizona comedy club found dead

Posted: Updated:

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - The owner of a recently closed Arizona comedy club who was reported missing by his family last month has been found dead.

Authorities say the body of 60-year-old Mark William Anderson was discovered Wednesday in a hotel room in Buckeye, west of Phoenix.

Buckeye police say a hotel housekeeper found the body and it was identified as Anderson.

They say the cause and manner of death will be determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office.

The East Valley Tribune says Anderson checked into the hotel May 21.

He was reported missing May 15, three days after he reportedly left Oklahoma City to travel to Phoenix or Dallas to do business.

Anderson had homes in both Arizona and Oklahoma.

The Tempe Improv closed on June 1 after a 23-year run.
