Target Fireworks Set for Monday Night

Thousands are expected to gather along the Detroit River Monday night for one of the largest displays of fireworks in the country.

The Target Fireworks will illuminate the sky beginning at 10:06 p.m. and feature more than 10,000 pyrotechnic effects launched from three barges in the river that can be seen for miles.

Fox 2's Amy Andrews was live Monday morning, on the dawn of what's expected - and what organizers are promising - to be the most spectacular show in the history of the event.

Weather Authority Rich Luterman says there was a chance of thunderstorms developing, but we should be in the clear by the time the show starts. Still, he advises those heading downtown to pack some rain gear just in case.

Due to large crowds, the city of Detroit has issued a number of guidelines for parking and road closures.
