There was a lot of cheering inside the Palace of Auburn Hills Sunday. But, there wasn't a game. Hundreds turned out for the national cheer and dance competition.

Amid a struggling economy that's seen the downsizing and elimination of so many extra curricular school activities, Tracy Quasarano founded Spirt Rocks cheer and dance competitions. More than 800 athletes ages 3-18 from as far away as Alpena took part in the national cheer and dance championships.
"These kids learn to work together," said Quasarano. "They learn the number one life skill, and that's teamwork, good sportsmanship."
