The National Park Service released more video of damage to the Washington Monument caused by last year’s earthquake.
Images show engineers as they inspected and made interim repairs to the structure. Large cracks to the Pyramidion, the pointy top, at around 475 feet and 530 feet can be seen.
The video also shows an inspection of the interior of the obelisk and video from the engineer’s helmet cams.
On August 23, 2011, a magnitude 5.8 earthquake damaged the monument, leaving it in need of extensive repairs.
On Thursday, Philanthropist David Rubenstein announced his donation of the $7.5 million needed to repair the cracks and chipped stonework.
