Sandusky's Lawyer Questions McQueary's Credibility

Posted:

The attorney for former Penn State football assistant coach Jerry Sandusky claims his client doesn't regret the NBC interview with Bob Costas about the sex abuse scandal, saying it will help the defense.

Joe Amendola, Sandusky's lawyer, also says he believes assistant football coach Mike McQueary's credibility will be a problem for the prosecution.

Sandusky, 67, faces 40 counts in a child sex abuse case that has also led to coverup allegations against two Penn State officials and the firing of legendary coach Joe Paterno.

McQueary, the team's wide receivers coach and director of recruiting who officials say witnessed one of Sandusky's  alleged assaults back in 2002, was placed on administrative leave last week.

Fox News correspondent David Lee Miller caught up with Amendola and got these comments on McQueary's credibility.

"I think he (McQueary) has a serious credibility issue, but that's up to someone else to decide," Amendola said. "But I think at this point, based upon what I'm hearing he recently said in his texts to other people, I think there's a serious credibility issue. Quite frankly what I'm hoping is that, if there is, that the folks at Penn State who have been totally, totally destroyed by this mess will be vindicated at an early stage rather than at a later stage in this process."

Amendola also thinks the more people hear Sandusky the more they'll believe he has been wrongly accused.
