RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The government's key witness in the corruption trial for former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell has testified that he gave McDonnell and his wife money because it was a business relationship, not because they were friends. Jonnie Williams took the witness stand yesterday under the cloak of immunity.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former D.C. councilmember Carol Schwartz says she has a stronger record on education than either of her opponents in the race for mayor. Schwartz's chief opponents are Democratic nominee Muriel Bowser and independent David Catania, both current D.C. councilmembers.

Three people familiar with the probe tell The Associated Press that the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's office are scrutinizing partnerships between local companies and outside firms.
