ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - A former preschool teacher has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for producing child pornography by filming his sexual abuse of 5-year-old students in Japan. Fifty-4-year-old James Manring of Fredericksburg pleaded guilty in January in federal court in Alexandria. Prosecutors had sought a sentence of more than 17 years. Manring taught preschool in Bethesda, Md., before his November arrest.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - President Barack Obama urged graduates of the U.S. Naval Academy to exhibit honor and courage in tackling incidents of sexual assault as they assume leadership positions in the military. In a commencement address today, the president said sexual assault threatens the "trust and discipline" that makes the U.S. military strong and respected.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) - Montgomery County police have charged the son of a former aide to President George W. Bush with killing a man with a hatchet. Police today arrested 20-year-old Claude Alexander Allen III. Authorities say the younger Allen and the victim, 25-year-old Michael Phillip Harvey, knew each other.

WASHINGTON (AP) -Washington Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa will rest a few days because of a broken bone in his right wrist. Manager Davey Johnson says Espinosa has been playing with discomfort since getting hit by a pitch April 14.
