WASHINGTON (AP) - Two Washington men have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms for killing a woman who was to testify against one them. Twenty-four-year-old Willie Walker Jr. and 23-year-old Ricky Donaldson were sentenced yesterday. According to government evidence, 44-year-old Delois Persha had identified Walker as her assailant in a previous shooting.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Police in the District of Columbia issued five citations for marijuana possession in the first week of a new law that decriminalized possessing small amounts of marijuana. The law that went into effect last week replaced criminal penalties for possession of one ounce of pot with a $25 civil fine.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Three Americans, including a reporter for The Washington Post, appear to have been detained in Iran. Post foreign editor Douglas Jehl said yesterday that the newspaper has received credible reports that Jason Rezaian, his Iranian wife and two freelance photojournalists were detained Tuesday evening in Tehran.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Renaissance artist Piero di Cosimo's career in painting will be examined next year in a major exhibition planned for Washington and Florence, Italy. The National Gallery of Art says it's organizing the first major retrospective of Piero's paintings with the Uffizi museum in Florence.
