
Tom Fitzgerald began reporting for Fox 5 News in 2003.
He is a recipient of 3 Emmy Awards, 5 Emmy Award nominations, and winner of several Associated Press Awards. Currently, Tom reports on National Affairs in Washington D.C. focusing on The White House, the U.S. Congress and the US Supreme Court.
Since Inauguration Day 2009, Tom has covered the Obama Administration participating in several prime time Presidential news conferences at the White House. In 2008, he was inside The US Supreme Court as it heard arguments before landmark decision striking down Washington D.C. gun ban. He also reported several exclusive stories on how some airlines were failing to inspect their aircraft, resulting in hearings in the House of Representatives.
Tom came to Fox 5 from News 12 New Jersey. He reported, anchored and hosted the political talk show "Roundtable". During his tenure, Tom covered the 9/11 attacks traveling to both the World Trade Center in New York, and at the Pentagon in Arlington Virginia. He also covered several Republican and Democratic National Presidential Conventions, and served as the stations Jersey Shore Bureau Chief.
Tom's career began at WBJB-FM, an NPR radio affiliate in Middletown, NJ. He later joined TV34 News in Monmouth, NJ covering New Jerseys state house, political campaigns, organized crime investigations, and several major hurricanes.
Tom graduated from William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ where he earned Bachelors degree from the University's College of the Arts and Communication. He grew up at the Jersey Shore, and he and his wife Tracy are parents of a daughter.
