ROCKVILLE, Md. - Montgomery County police say their transportation security unit will be undergoing training exercises at area train stations.
Police say riders at Metro and MARC stations in the county will notice an increased presence of officers during the drills, which will be held on random days a few times a month. The drills begin Tuesday.
Officials say other law enforcement agencies will participate in the drills at times. Besides uniformed officers, passengers will see K-9 teams and SWAT officers in some of the exercises.
Police say the officers will be tested on their response to the detection and prevention of terrorist activity. However, they say the training is not in response to any identified security threat.
