ANNANDALE, Va. - Instead of giving three retiring Fairfax County teachers pictures to remember their students, Canterbury Woods Elementary School students honored their teachers by participating in a flash mob.
The kids rehearsed their celebration for two months, and the three teachers, Gail Kozak, Marge Tabellario, and Ines Fierro, joined in the surprise performance. They are retiring at the end of the academic year.
All together, these three teachers have served the school for a total of 90 years. Kozak was a reading teacher, Tabellario taught the fifth grade and Fierro was an instructional assistant.
About 600 students from the school participated in the flash mob, which occurred at 9 a.m. on Thursday. Students also wrote their own books, poems, performed an original play and several songs.
