A 74-year-old grandmother has died in a car crash at the same site where her granddaughter was killed a week ago.

Lt. C. Ferrigno of the Henrico Police Department said Ruth M. Bellio was struck and killed by a car Saturday night while taking flowers to the place where her granddaughter died.

Bellio's husband, Joseph, was taken to Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center in Richmond for treatment.

Their granddaughter, 25-year-old Danielle L. Bellio, died Nov. 21 after crashing her vehicle into a tree following a high-speed police chase.

Police said Ruth Bellio was struck by a car after it hit the pickup truck she had just exited to lay flowers for a roadside memorial for her granddaughter.
