ORLANDO, Fla. - A Florida woman is alive today because her breast implant saved her life when she was stabbed in the chest with a pocket knife.
The 41-year-old's doctors told WESH-TV that the implant had just enough saline in it to stop the knife from piercing through the left side of her chest during the attack, preventing it hitting her lung or heart.
The victim, who was not named, said her ex-fiance's new girlfriend attacked her outside of his apartment in Melbourne, Fla.
In an interview first broadcast Tuesday, she said spending $6,000 on breast augmentation three months ago might have been the best decision she ever made in her life.
Her doctor, Frank Filiberto, of Artful Awakenings, said that in his 30 years of cosmetic surgery, the remarkable story was a first.
The stabbing suspect is facing charges in connection with the attack.
