(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Grasshoppers have invaded a Salt Lake City suburb. Residents in Tooele, Utah, are dealing with a nasty infestation that has some residents really bugged and hopping mad.

Officials at the Utah Department of Agriculture said the grasshoppers have already destroyed a number of crops in the area. They are battling back by spraying down the area with pesticides, and they're also getting some help from above -- seagulls have been snacking on the grasshoppers as they see them.

"As soon as you open up the front door, they just fly right in," said Tooele resident Tony Atherley. "They get inside the house, and on the furniture, and the kids are running around screaming. You step on them, and then you track them into the house and it's just a mess." Atherley said his family has been spending $50 to $60 a week on bug spray. "But it only gives you temporary relief," he said.

People who live in the area say this is the worst infestation they have ever seen.
