A youth who allegedly beat his mother with an bat because she wouldn't share her fries with him will be tried in juvenile court.

A judge granted a defense motion to transfer the case of 6-year-old Dennis Hickman III of Port Deposit to juvenile court last month.

Hickman has been released from the Cecil County Detention Center and moved to a juvenile detention hall.

Hickman is accused of beating his 52-year-old mother, Sheila Ross, with an aluminum baseball bat at their home on May 19.
