WASHINGTON - Prince George's County police say Jason Scott could be a serial killer. His former co-worker at UPS was stunned by the news.
"As far as him killing people, that was a total shock," said one UPS worker who used to work with Scott.
That worker spoke to FOX 5 under the condition that her identity be hidden. She says for years, she worked side by side with Scott.
"He really didn't talk to many people,” said Scott’s former co-worker. “He did kind of keep to himself.”
Scott worked in the UPS warehouse. He corrected the labels on packages that were returned to the center with bad addresses.
"He always came to work. He was never anyone that caused any problems. If you asked him to do something, he did it. He was extremely fast at typing. As far as employees go, he was pretty good," the former co-worker said.
Scott was indicted Wednesday in the murders of Dolores Dewitt and her daughter Ebony. Their bodies were found on March 16, 2009 in a burning car in Largo that had been stolen that day.
Prince George's County Police Chief Roberto Hylton thinks these indictments are just the beginning.
"I hope that with the arrest of this bad, very dangerous individual, that other witnesses will come forward and will assist us, collaborate and close some of the other cases," said Chief Hylton.
Investigators say Scott may also be connected to the murders of Karen and Karissa Lofton. They were shot to death inside their home six weeks before the Dewitts were killed.
Investigators say Scott made changes to crime scenes to keep police off his trail.
"I hope that this indictment will help to bring some sense of calm to the community," said Prince George's County State's Attorney Glenn Ivey.
But the people who worked side by side with Scott at UPS, say they still can't believe it.
"Now that you think about it, it's scary,” said the former co-worker.
If convicted, Scott faces two life terms in prison.
