SILVER SPRING, Md. - Jenny Morber is searching for her past. She now has just a few photos of her husband Shaun and their little boy Clark. Their computer has disappeared.
"We were just heartbroken. All our pictures of our son were on there. Our honeymoon," said Morber.
The Morber's recently moved to the D.C. area. They're renting a house while waiting to move into the one they're buying. So some things are still in boxes. They also had about ten boxes on the front porch to donate to the non-profit Purple Heart.
But a relative accidentally put out an extra box, one that contained their computer, a black HP Compaq with a silver base.
"For me, pictures are my memories. After a while, you forget. We keep pictures to remind ourselves of our lives and that part of our lives is just gone," says Morber.
The Purple Heart truck picked up the boxes at the Morber's home in Silver Spring. That was back on June 1st.
They ended up at a store called Village Thrift in Bladensburg, Maryland the same day. The family then went on vacation, so it wasn't until a week later that they realized the computer was gone.
"I was outside in the yard with my son, playing with him, and my husband comes back and says 'Our computer's gone!' "
Shaun Morber called Purple Heart, then rushed to Village Thrift first thing in the morning. He found nothing.
The thrift store does not keep track of who purchases items. Now, the Morber's are spreading the word and relying on the kindness of a stranger.
"We'd love to buy someone another computer or give them a reward or anything. We just need our stuff back," said Morber.
Jenny knows finding the computer is a long shot, but says it's worth a try when what you've lost is priceless.
The family had backed up their computer on an external drive, but their movers packed the back up drive in the same box as the computer, so now both are missing.
