FREDERICK, Md. - The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says it is investigating a fire at a Frederick gas station in which a man was fatally burned.
Spokesman Joseph Zurolo says 26-year-old Ainsley Gordon Jr. of Germantown was burned early Wednesday.
Authorities responded shortly after 4 a.m. to a reported vehicle fire at the Exxon station on state Route 85 near the Interstate 270 interchange.
A Frederick County sheriff's deputy found Gordon on fire in an adjacent parking lot, and a vehicle and fuel pumps in flames at the gas station.
A state police helicopter flew Gordon to the Washington Hospital Center burn unit in Washington, where he died.
The fire caused $60,000 in damage.
