WASHINGTON - Authorities say four D.C. firefighters have been injured after the roof of a northeast home collapsed on them.
D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says firefighters were called to the blaze in the 800 block of 48th Place about 12:30 a.m. Friday. He says firefighters were searching the home for occupants when a portion of the roof collapsed on them.
Piringer says four firefighters suffered burns and were taken to Washington Hospital Center, and one is in critical condition.
The cause of the two-alarm fire is under investigation.
