BETHESDA, Md - Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a double fatal collision that occurred this morning in Bethesda.
At approximately 8:45 a.m., 2nd District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and the interchange with Interstate 495 for the report of a personal injury collision.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 1994 Buick Roadmaster station wagon was driving north on Old Georgetown Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Buick traveled past the beltway and left the northbound lanes. It then traveled into the southbound lanes of Old Georgetown Road, just north of the beltway, where it collided head-on with a 2005 Toyota Sienna mini-van.
As a result of the collision, the driver of the Buick Roadmaster, Donald Duvall, 64-years-old, of the 3400 block of Taylor Street in Chevy Chase, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Toyota Sienna, Nadia Nawaz, 37-years-old, of the unit block of Pebble Ridge Court in Rockville, was also pronounced deceased on the scene.
Anyone who may have information about this collision is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. The investigation is continuing.
