LA PLATA, Md. - The Charles County sheriff's office says a grand jury has found that two officers did not use excessive force in a fatal shooting.

Cornelius Warren, 44, of Indian Head was shot and killed in a struggle with two officers on Oct. 2 in Pisagh. The sheriff's office said Wednesday that a grand jury concluded last week that both officers' use of force was not unreasonable given the danger that Warren presented when he grabbed an officer's gun.

Authorities say the officers made a traffic stop and found marijuana in Warren's vehicle. They say he tried to escape and then struggled for control over the arresting officer's gun.

The county NAACP chapter had called for an independent review of the shooting, saying there were questions about the officers' conduct.
