TYSONS CORNER, Va. - Investigators say undercover officers bought drugs at Tysons Galleria. They've arrested five men and charged them with conspiracy to distribute ecstasy and marijuana.
Court documents say some of the buys happened in the shopping center's parking lot. Some happened inside, and some took place in the food court.
The five men arrested are Jonathan Pai, Tofun Ghasri, Paul Bang, Jeff Tsu, and Quang Ho. The case was handled by a DEA task force that included the Virginia State Police and Montgomery County Police. Court documents say the buys happened between February 2009 and February 2010.
The documents say one of the defendants, Jonathan Pai, sent an undercover officer a text message that said, "Are you ready to hang out?" Authorities say it was his way of asking if they could meet up and exchange drugs for money.
Investigators say thousands of dollars changed hands. An officer says he handed over money to one of the defendants in a Camel Light cigarette box.
We tried to reach all five of the defendants on Wednesday. A few of their lawyers returned our calls, but they didn't want to comment on the case.
A spokeswoman for Tysons Galleria didn't want to say much either. She did tell FOX 5's Beth Parker that Tysons is always willing to cooperate with law enforcement.
