With the leaves changing and people strolling along a well-maintained path, Herndon, Virginia seems like a peaceful place. But believe it or not, the town of Herndon tops the list of the most obscene places in America.
"You haven't heard anyone shouting any obscenities?" FOX 5's Beth Parker asked Pennie Church, who is visiting Herndon.
"Definitely not!" Church replied. "We've just come back from New York and heard quite a bit there."
It's not what they're "saying", but what they're "searching" that pushed Herndon to the top of the list. The website businessinsider.com created the list based upon Google searches of so-called dirty words. That's the seven dirty words you can't say on TV.
You may remember them from the old George Carlin comedy routine.
Also on the list are Irvine, California; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; St. Louis, Missouri; and Reston, Virginia.
Why are there two northern Virginia towns in the top five? Herndon Mayor Steve DeBenedittis says he can clear that up.
"We're fortunate to have a lot of tech companies in and around Herndon and some of them have servers that host a lot of the internet traffic for a lot of the East Coast. It's just like vehicular traffic. It doesn't really mean it's associated with Herndon if it passes through Herndon," said DeBenedittis.
Like many residents, the mayor figures this news will won't stick around long. Money Magazine has called Herndon one of the best places to be rich and single. Businessweek says it's one of the country's most affordable suburbs.
