An Ashburn, Virginia man is accused of using fake insurance policies to get millions of dollars in loans. Now, the man with a reputation for being flamboyant has vanished and so has is money.
People who knew him say Osama El-Atari was a business man with a penchant for flashy sports cars.
"I just met him a few times, saw him in the Hummer in the neighborhood," says one neighbor.
"He was in his Lamborghini, his phantom, his high-rolling end cars."
The 30 year old lived a high-rolling lifestyle, residing inside an exclusive gated community. He was the owner of several Original Steakhouse and Sports Theater franchises in Virginia and Maryland.
Artist Ava Helms met Osama when she was doing drawings of some of the bartenders.
"He was a little arrogant, he always impressed me as someone who had a lot of money and being sort of young," Helms remembered.
Now El-Atari is missing and so is his money. His creditors took him to court to try to recover some $42 million they say he owes them, but on Friday he was a no show.
In fact the general manager of the Loudoun County Original Steakhouse and Sports Theater released a statement saying, "We haven't heard or seen him in three months. Our owner is Marvcus Patton (former Redskins player). He owns all the Original Steakhouses in Virginia and Lucky's Sports Bar. Mr. El-Atari is no longer involved with our restaurants in any way."
FOX 5 contacted El-Atari's family in Virginia. They had no comment about the situation.
