A 4-year-old girl from Waldorf, Maryland is being credited with saving her mother's life after making a 911 call when her mother went into diabetic shock.
On Tuesday, Charles County Commissioners recognized 4-year-old Samantha Mason for her courage and bravery. The little girl knew how to call 911 in an emergency, and that's just what she did when her mom felt ill.
On the audio recording of the 911 call, Samantha is heard talking to the 911 dispatcher, giving her all of the information she needed to get an ambulance to her mother's aid.
The county commissioners also recognized the dispatcher, Jaime Ostrander, for her ability to keep the little girl calm while she waited for emergency crews to arrive at the home.
During the special recognition the Commissioners proclaimed November to be American Diabetes Month in Charles County. Representatives from The Maryland Foundation for Quality Healthcare were recognized for their work with diabetes prevention and education.
