CLINTON, Md. - Sade Davis, along with the men responsible for saving her life, Dave Wilson, Wes Auld, and Darien Whitted, joined us in studio to speak about the amazing rescue. (WATCH THE VIDEO)
A group of Prince George's County firefighter-medics are being credited with saving the life of a pregnant woman who lost control of her vehicle on Saturday and landed upside-down in a creek.
It happened just after 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 24 along the 8900 block of Temple Hill Road in Clinton. The road was slickened from the rain, and investigators say 24-year-old Sadé Davis of Clinton lost control of her vehicle. Her vehicle landed upside down in a nearby creek after striking at least one tree.
EMS units from the Clinton Fire/EMS station had already been dispatched to another medical emergency at a home on Temple Hill Road, but they stopped for a citizen that was waving frantically to attract their attention and told them what had happened. The citizen had not seen anyone get out of the car.
When the rescuers reached the scene, they found that the front end and driver's side of the car were submerged in up to four feet of water. Davis was found unconscious in the driver's seat wearing her seat belt, but her upper body was under water. The firefighters and medics worked quickly to get to the vehicle in the water, eventually breaking a window to get in. Davis was not breathing and had no pulse.
Davis was quickly pulled from the crash, and she was taken to Southern Maryland Hospital where she regained a pulse and was stabilized. After four days in the hospital, she was released and allowed to go home. Her pregnancy was not impacted.
When she arrived home Wednesday, Davis was welcomed home by the crew who saved her, along with her family. The Davis family was very gracious and thankful in thanking the crews, which included Paramedic 825 Fire Fighter/Paramedic Lieutenant Dale M. Giampetroni, Fire Fighter/Medic Dave J. Wilson, Ambulance 825 Fire Fighter Derian C. Whitted, Fire Fighter/Medic Wesley R. Auld, Engine 825 Volunteer Fire Fighter/EMT John Maine, and Volunteer Fire Fighter/EMT Bernie Roussillion.
